Cushioning and stability on an entry-level trainer.

Despite being New Balances entry-level stability trainer, the 718 rides on a fairly complex midsole composed of injection-molded foam, large complementary cushioning pads in the heel and forefoot, a sturdy midfoot shank, and a medial post. While wear-testers reported that the 718s cushioning and stability exceeded expectations (especially when compared to previous 700-series shoes), they also found the forefoot to be a bit stiff and fit quite tightcharacteristics that lowered their overall satisfaction. The 718 is notable for the wide variety of sizes and widths in which it is available.
