Running Times boasts an experienced and enthusiastic staff. We invite you to read about them here, and if you have questions or comments, they would love to hear from you.

Carol Lasseter Rice, Publisher:

Running Times Publisher Carol Lasseter Rice started running for fun when she turned 40 and she hasn't stopped since. In 1985, shortly after she took up the sport, Carol began working at RT as the Calendar Editor. Her passion and dedication to the sport were soon revealed. With characteristic determination and perseverance Carol set out to learn everything she could about the magazine and the business of magazine publishing.

Carol has been writing, editing, researching, setting editorial policy, and building staff and circulation for over 20 years. In 1994 she was named Publisher and President and since that time she has worked tirelessly to establish Running Times as a powerful voice and invaluable resource for the running community; truly "the Runner's Best Resource." In addition to her outstanding work at the magazine, her unflagging focus and energy has made her a fixture in the sport of distance running. Carol's overarching editorial goals are threefold. It is her belief that Running Times should deliver event coverage and publicity to build awareness and grow participation in the sport, honor and pay homage to the heroes of our sport, and promote recognition of the top young runners who are the future of our sport.

Carol brought the same intensity and focus to her athletic life as she has applied to her professional career. Early in her running career she quickly morphed from a recreational runner and cross-country mom to racing competitively as a masters runner. She was the 10th-ranked U.S. female master by The Runner magazine in 1986, and she won 14 sanctioned races, from 10K to 10 miles, from 1983 to 1986.

Today Carol balances her myriad duties at Running Times with a slightly less ambitious running schedule. Though daily runs are an essential part of her life, her racing has become less competitive and more social. She takes every opportunity to run with her two grown children, and looks forward to introducing her four grandchildren to her beloved sport.
