Their Moosletter lists upcoming races. Movin' Shoes Group has Wed. evening track workouts, weekend group long runs, starting at Movin' Shoes running store, S. Park St. Also The University of Wisconsin Running Club (UWRC) meets wednesdays and sundays throughout the year. Organized by students, contacts for the UWRC change frequently, so check the club’s site (www.sit.wisc.edu/~uwrc).
Where to Run: The Univ. of Wisc. Arboretum has a 10K road course around Lake Wingra, as well as numerous trails through the woods. Entrance to the park is south of town at the end of Mills St. Also there is a lakeshore path along Lake Mendota from the UW student union to Picnic point, on paved and dirt trails. Also a paved route around Lake Monona, 20km long.
Local shops: Movin' Shoes, S. Park St., has the most knowledgeable staff in the city, and reasonable prices.
What's hot: The University of Wisconsin campus, especially (in the mild months, May-September) the Memorial Union Terrace on the shores of Lake Mendota. State St. near campus is good for a range of eclectic shops and restaurants.
