Mike: Another US Title

8/11/08
Hello Everyone,

Sorry for the delay in posting.

I have been doing a bit of traveling and coming back home I had to tend to some issues that have delayed me getting my thoughts together for you all.

Well, I was hoping to tell you all about this sooner but the 2008 USA National 50 Mile Trail Championships went great, I won the race in 6:52:50 and it was one of the fastest times ever posted on the course (it is a pretty tough course with lots of climb and loss).

Herewith an interview I did about the race for a blog that will give you a good feel for the event, they did a good job asking me questions about the race and it has some good pictures. [ Interview HERE ]

I loved Seattle and I got to see some of my clients for work for a few days before the race which was terrific. They are incredible people and I am really lucky to be working with them.

After the 2008 USA National 50 Mile Trail Championships, I did some local 5K road races (I won the first race and was 3rd in the other) and definitely felt the affects of the 50 Miler but was able to get my legs turning over a little and that made me feel good.

This past weekend, I spoke at and ran the Salem Road Race, which has become an annual tradition for me. This year I was able to put in a really solid effort and believe I even might have broken the course record (it is a 10K).

Yesterday, I ran the Leesburg 20K and won the race in 1:06:28, which makes me excited for what I might be able to do at the USA 20K National Championships the first weekend of September.

Are you all watching the Olympics? I can’t stop. I was even watching handball this morning and the other day I had to rip myself away from badminton. Who knew it could be so exciting? I can not wait for the running to start so that we can see how well all our fellow runners will do.

Again, I am sorry for the delay in posting and look forward to being more prompt in my next post.

Best Regards,
Michael Wardian
